Dear Storywriter
I hope all is well with you. It's an exciting
time here at the Centre for Therapeutic Storywriting as we have
recently been awarded funding by the TDA and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation to run a
Story Links project in collaboration with the University of Chichester. This
will include some free Story Links training for education professionals
in the South of England. More details of this and other training along with
forthcoming conferences below.

The intervention improves pupils' writing skills while developing emotional
awareness. Suitable for SENCOs, HLTAs, SEN teachers, Educational Psychologists,
Learning Mentors & School Counsellors.

Visiting SEN teacher from
Cyprus
The deputy headteacher and SENCO of the
American Academy Junior School in Larnaca, Cyprus is flying to the UK to attend
the above Therapeutic Storywriting Groups training in May. She is keen to visit
some schools in the Brighton/Sussex area to observe SEN practice in English
schools on 2nd, 5th, 6th & 7th May. She would be particularly interested to
attend a Therapeutic Storywriting session. Her school would welcome return
visits. If your school would be willing to host a visitor for one of these
days, please email admin@therapeuticstorywriting.com
.
Story Links Project
The 3-day training course
'Story Links-
Working with Parents of Pupils at Risk of Exclusion' will be offered in 5
locations in the South of England in the summer '08 and Autumn '08 terms.
Story Links is a 10 week intervention that uses Therapeutic Storywriting to
support parents and individual pupils at risk of exclusion because of
behaviours related to attachment difficulties. There will be an evaluation of
the impact of the training on pupils' emotional well-being and their reading
skills.
As
the project is supported by the TDA and the Esmee Fairbairn
Foundation, there will be no charge to schools for this training. Suitable for
SENCOs, SEN support teachers, school counsellors, educational
psychologists and inclusion managers supporting pupils with BESDs at
KS1 & 2. Course details will be included in future Updates. Meanwhile,
if someone in your school or institution is interested in the training please
