Working with Parents of Pupils at Risk of Exclusion
The Centre for Therapeutic Storywriting is collaborating with
the University of Chichester on the 2 year Story Links Project
which is supported by the TDA and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Story
Links extends the work of the Therapeutic Storywriting group
model to include parents of pupils at risk of exclusion. For
many of these pupils the emotional difficulties that are getting
in the way of their learning are related to attachment difficulties.
Story Links is a solution-focused systemic programme delivered
in weekly sessions in which the parent/carer and the child are
facilitated to co-create a story which is then used as the child’s
reading text during the week.
The project runs from April 2008 to November 2009 and will
include the delivery of five 3-day training courses to educational
professionals in the South of England. Details of forthcoming
courses will be announced on the home
page and also in the monthly Update.
There will be an evaluation of the impact of the intervention
on pupils learning. For more details see:-

Story Links has been very effective here - it's a valuable vehicle for working with parents of pupils at risk of exclusion.
